Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) Consumption Reaches 9.10 Thousand Tonnes in 2025
Polyether Ether Ketone Market Reaches USD 910 Million as Carbon-Fiber Grades and High-Specification Applications Gain Ground
Global PEEK Consumption Reaches 9.10 Thousand Tonnes in 2025
The Global Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) Market was valued at approximately USD 910 million in 2025, representing nearly 9.10 thousand metric tonnes of commercial PEEK resin and compound consumption.
PEEK demand is increasingly concentrated in applications where thermal stability, chemical resistance, dimensional control, electrical insulation, structural performance, or material qualification limit the use of conventional engineering polymers. Automotive and transportation, industrial machinery, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, medical devices, and energy systems account for the majority of global consumption.
The market's approximately USD 100/kg blended realized value reflects a wide pricing range rather than a uniform resin price. General-purpose unfilled material trades substantially below aerospace-qualified carbon-fiber PEEK, high-purity semiconductor grades, and implantable medical polymers.
China Accounts for Approximately 2.50 Thousand Tonnes of PEEK Demand
China represented the largest individual PEEK consumption market in 2025, with an estimated 2.50 thousand tonnes, equivalent to approximately 27%–28% of global volume.
Demand is distributed across industrial machinery, automotive components, electrical systems, electronics, semiconductor equipment, medical applications, and emerging high-voltage motor-insulation systems. Domestic PEEK production has increased competition in standard industrial grades, while semiconductor, medical, aerospace, and specialized electrical applications continue to support higher-value qualified materials.
The country's pricing structure is therefore highly segmented. Locally produced industrial resin can trade materially below internationally qualified grades, making China's share of global PEEK tonnage larger than its share of global revenue.
United States Consumes Approximately 1.45 Thousand Tonnes with a Higher-Value Application Mix
The United States accounted for approximately 1.45 thousand tonnes of PEEK consumption in 2025.
Its demand is concentrated in aerospace, medical devices, semiconductor equipment, energy systems, and high-performance industrial applications. These sectors consume a greater proportion of reinforced, qualified, high-purity, and medical-grade PEEK than markets dominated by standard industrial resin.
The U.S. consequently generates more revenue per tonne than several higher-volume industrial markets. Carbon-fiber aerospace grades, implantable medical materials, semiconductor PEEK, and specialty energy applications raise the country's weighted realized selling price.
Automotive and Transportation Lead with Approximately 2.28 Thousand Tonnes
Automotive and transportation represented the largest PEEK application in 2025, accounting for approximately 25% of global volume, or around 2.28 thousand tonnes.
PEEK is already established in bearings, thrust washers, gears, transmission components, seals, electrical connectors, and high-temperature mechanical parts. New demand is developing around high-voltage rectangular magnet-wire insulation, where PEEK can be extruded directly onto copper conductors used in electric traction motors.
Syensqo has developed dedicated PEEK grades for direct conductor coating, while Evonik opened a dedicated PEEK Rectangular Magnet Wire Lab in China in April 2026 to support extrusion, winding, electrical testing, partial-discharge analysis, and qualification work. These investments indicate movement toward application-specific commercial scale rather than laboratory-only material development.
Carbon-Fiber PEEK Captures More Revenue than Its Physical Share Suggests
Carbon-fiber-reinforced PEEK accounted for an estimated 24% of global physical volume in 2025, equivalent to approximately 2.18 thousand tonnes.
Its revenue contribution is higher because CF-PEEK is concentrated in aerospace structures, high-load automotive components, industrial equipment, compressor systems, and energy applications where stiffness, dimensional stability, thermal resistance, and weight reduction support premium pricing.
Aerospace qualifications for CF30 PEEK and continuous-carbon-fiber PEEK systems further strengthen this segment. Larger thermoplastic composite structures can consume substantially more polymer per component than conventional clips, fasteners, or small molded parts, increasing material content within qualified aircraft programs.
High-Specification PEEK Applications Are Reshaping Market Value
The PEEK market is increasingly separating into high-volume engineering applications and lower-volume, higher-value qualified uses. Automotive and industrial machinery continue to provide the largest physical demand base, while aerospace, semiconductor, medical, and carbon-fiber applications contribute disproportionately to revenue.
As per estimates, unfilled PEEK accounted for approximately 3.37 thousand tonnes in 2025, followed by 2.82 thousand tonnes of glass-fiber-reinforced PEEK and 2.18 thousand tonnes of carbon-fiber-reinforced PEEK.
The combination of increasing material qualification, higher-value reinforced grades, semiconductor purity requirements, medical traceability, and new electrical-insulation applications is shifting market growth toward product mix as well as physical volume.
