Flexible PCB Market to Reach USD 36.10 Billion by 2034 as EV Batteries, Advanced Mobile Devices and Rigid-Flex Designs Raise Circuit Content
The Global Flexible PCB Market was valued at USD 20.90 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach USD 36.10 billion by 2034, expanding at a CAGR of 6.27% during 2026–2034. Global production reached approximately 16.00 billion flexible PCB units and 110.60 million square meters in 2025, reflecting widespread use across smartphones, automotive electronics, EV batteries, computing devices, wearables, medical electronics, industrial systems, and aerospace applications.
Flexible PCB demand is moving beyond simple electronics shipment growth. Smartphone manufacturers are adding more cameras, antennas, sensors, display connections, and compact modules, while automotive manufacturers are integrating flexible circuits into battery systems, digital cockpits, cameras, ADAS equipment, lighting, and electronic controls. The result is a gradual increase in flexible-circuit content per device and per vehicle, even where finished-device shipments grow more slowly.
China Produced More Than Half of Global Flexible PCB Volume in 2025
China remained the world's largest physical Flexible PCB manufacturing center in 2025, producing an estimated 8.50 billion FPCB units and 56.20 million square meters. This represented approximately 53.1% of global unit production and 50.8% of global area output.
China's scale comes from the combination of FPCB fabrication with smartphone, display, camera, battery, EV, wearable, and consumer-electronics manufacturing. The country's production base includes domestic manufacturers as well as facilities operated by Taiwanese, Japanese, Korean, and other international PCB suppliers.
China's EV industry is becoming increasingly relevant to flexible-circuit demand. Global electric-car sales reached approximately 21 million units in 2025, and China moved above 50% EV penetration in annual new-car sales. Battery-monitoring circuits, vehicle displays, cameras, lighting systems, and ADAS modules are increasing the amount of flexible circuitry required across newer vehicle platforms.
United States Remains a High-Value FPCB Market Despite Limited Domestic Production
The United States produced approximately 300 million FPCB units and 3.00 million square meters in 2025, substantially below China in physical manufacturing volume.
However, the U.S. remains one of the most important end markets for FPCB-containing products. Smartphones, notebooks, tablets, medical devices, vehicles, wearables, aerospace systems, industrial equipment, and defense electronics sold in the United States contain large quantities of flexible circuits manufactured in Asian supply chains.
Domestic U.S. FPCB production is more concentrated in aerospace, defense, medical, industrial, and specialized communication electronics, where production runs are smaller but qualification, reliability, documentation, and engineering requirements are higher. As a result, U.S.-manufactured FPCB generally carries a higher value per circuit than high-volume consumer FPCB produced in Asia.
Single-Sided Flexible PCB Remained the Largest Individual Type by Unit Volume
Among major FPCB types, single-sided flexible PCB accounted for approximately 5.80 billion units and 29.80 million square meters in 2025.
Single-sided FPC contains one conductive copper layer and remains widely used in battery connections, lighting, sensors, buttons, consumer electronics, and simple electronic interconnects. Its high unit volume is supported by low material usage, thin construction, mature manufacturing processes, and suitability for applications that do not require multilayer routing.
Double-sided FPC contributed a further 4.00 billion units and 24.20 million square meters, meaning conventional single- and double-sided flexible circuits together represented more than 61% of global FPCB unit shipments in 2025.
Higher-value growth is increasingly moving toward multilayer and rigid-flex products. Multilayer FPC represented approximately 3.40 billion units and 29.00 million square meters, while rigid-flex PCB reached approximately 2.80 billion units and 27.60 million square meters. These technologies carry more manufacturing value because they require additional layers, lamination, alignment, drilling, material transitions, and inspection.
Smartphones and Mobile Devices Accounted for 8.60 Billion FPCB Units
Smartphones and mobile devices remained the largest FPCB application in 2025, consuming approximately 8.60 billion units and 45.00 million square meters.
A modern premium smartphone can contain separate flexible circuits for the display, cameras, battery, charging module, antennas, side buttons, speakers, and sensors. Foldable devices add another layer of demand because circuits positioned around moving hinges must survive repeated bending throughout the product's operating life.
The smartphone opportunity is consequently shifting from simple device-volume expansion toward more FPCB content and higher circuit complexity per handset. Fine-line routing, thinner substrates, multilayer structures, dynamic-flex designs, and advanced camera and display modules are increasing manufacturing value even when overall smartphone shipment growth remains moderate.
Automotive and EV systems represented another major application, consuming approximately 1.20 billion FPCB units and 16.00 million square meters in 2025. The difference between smartphone and automotive unit volumes also illustrates why FPCB market analysis requires both units and square meters. Smartphone circuits are frequently small, while EV battery and automotive circuits can use considerably more area per unit.
Flexible PCB Revenue Growth Is Moving Toward Multilayer, Rigid-Flex and Dynamic Applications
The Global Flexible PCB Market is increasingly separating into two economic groups. High-volume single- and double-sided circuits remain essential for smartphones, consumer electronics, sensors, and simple interconnections, while multilayer, rigid-flex, fine-line, and dynamic-flex circuits generate greater value per unit.
EV battery monitoring, automotive cameras and displays, foldable smartphones, smart glasses, wearables, robotics, medical devices, and aerospace electronics are increasing demand for circuits that need either greater routing density, larger physical area, repeated mechanical movement, or reduced connector and cable count.
As per estimates, the Global Flexible PCB Market to increase from USD 20.90 billion in 2025 to USD 36.10 billion by 2034, with future revenue increasingly tied to higher flexible-circuit content per electronic system rather than simply the number of electronics manufactured.
